What Mike Meant To Me..

I don’t know where to begin on this but Mike was and is one of the major musical influences I had growing up as a child. The reason I ever got to listen to Mike was due in part to my mother (RIP Germania Garcia). She would play Mike like there was no tomorrow and it was a mainstay in our house. From my parents to my brothers, we were Jacksoned out. My mother even bought me the infamous “Thriller Jacket” (pictured above). Whenever there was parties or family gatherings, you know once Mike came on through the speakers you know an event was going down!!!. Once in a while when I felt like it I would dress up and do my own version of Mike, moonwalk, high kick, the usual. One memorable moment that comes to my mind as a child, is that whenever I had to spend time away at a relatives house, my mother would always sing the song Ben. Yes I know its a song about a mouse. I get it. But that was her way of telling me that we never be apart. Being a father now and after my mother’s passing, singing that song to my song means so much more its like I’m channeling my mother to him. A way for him to know who his grandmother was, a beautiful. I want to thank Mike for the incredible music he did on this earth. For the good and the bad times you could always put on a Michael Jackson song and you could pull throw. I could go on but I’ll leave it this way. Mike man your music is amazing and you will be missed. And so I leave you with this video.
